Let’s break it down …
What is UI? Unemployment Insurance (UI) is the fund that pays for all UI claims. In most conversations, you’ll hear claims paid as either “PUA or regular UI.” Meaning, UI that would be typically paid if you were unemployed outside of this COVID pandemic.
What is PUA? Pandemic Unemployment Assistance (PUA) is available to individuals who would not otherwise qualify for UI, but have been temporarily granted UI through the CARES Act.
